Manipur – the state without lack of core industries has to resort to tertiary sectors like sericulture to provide economic activity and growth and employment. The state government has set up a multi silk reeling cum spinning machine which was set up at a cost of 5.50 lakh rupees with an aim to provide self-employment opportunities in sericulture. Sericulture is a highly complex and labour intensive agro-based industry and the installation of the new machinery will ease the pressure of labour. It will also generate income as well as create employment opportunities both in rural and semi-urban areas.
