Airports Authority of India (AAI) is implementing the expansion programme of Imphal International Airport. AAI has awarded the development contract to KITCO, for a value of ₹ 6,000 million.
The project will be implemented on concept-to-commissioning basis, from construction of the new integrated terminal building conforming to GRIHA 4 Star Rating, apron link and taxiway, new control tower, parking bays for A321/B737-800/Q400 type of aircraft and parking and internal roads. The expansion programme is likely to be completed by 2023. The international airport is being developed as an Intra-Regional Hub with facility for early morning and late night operations.
